After the coaches wanted to maintain elements of the backdrop, the 2024 Beach Volleyball look became very focused on traditional aesthetics focused around the beach! I wanted it to feel very tropical and warm, but I was also challenged to not lose the grit and intensity of the sport. To achieve this, I put a focus on the elements associated with both: the sun and the sand. Pretty sunsets became an integral element for a variety of reasons. It gave everything a beachy feel, but it also had a stark lighting that could feel intense and dramatic. It also tied back to the local love for a Louisiana sunset, as well as it often made it easier to incorporate our purple and gold palette!
Paired with the sun and sand are items inspired by beach posters, post-cards, photos, sunglasses, and even coastal towns. These sources led to fonts that had vintage vibes that weren't too on the nose, as well as the ability to switch up the preview highlights in terms of style but still be uniform.
